How to Apply Your Semi-Cured Gel Wraps
Step 1: Prep Your Nails
Start with clean, dry nails. Gently push back your cuticles, then wash your hands with a grease-cutting dish soap (like Dawn) to remove oils from the nail surface. For best results, wipe each nail with an alcohol prep pad afterward.
Make sure your nails are completely dry before you begin — oils and moisture are the most common causes of lifting.
Step 2: Choose the Right Size
Pick a strip that fits your nail well, or go slightly smaller if you're between sizes. The wrap should sit on your nail only — not on your skin or cuticle area.
If needed, gently stretch the strip for a better fit. A slightly smaller fit is better than one that's too large, since overlap onto the skin can cause lifting.
Step 3: Apply the Wrap
Peel off the clear protective layer, then gently lift the semi-cured gel strip from the sheet, touching the adhesive as little as possible.
Place the strip on your nail and smooth it into position with the wooden stick provided or a rubber cuticle pusher. Press firmly around the edges and near the cuticle. Rolling the edges with the side of the stick helps prevent lifting and snagging.
Step 4: Trim and File the Excess
Before curing, trim the extra wrap from the tip of your nail with nail clippers or curved cuticle scissors. Trimming before curing keeps the tip from cracking or chipping during shaping.
Use a nail file to remove any remaining excess, filing downward in one direction from the top edge of your nail. Avoid filing back and forth, which can pull at the wrap.
Step 5: Cure Under the Lamp
Cure each hand under a UV LED nail lamp for 60 seconds. For extra durability, run a second 60-second cycle.
Curing hardens the semi-cured gel and gives your manicure a smooth, glossy, long-lasting finish.
Sensitive skin? Consider applying sunscreen to your hands or wearing fingerless UV gloves before curing.
Don't have a lamp yet? Our UV LED nail lamp works perfectly with our Semi-Cured Gel wraps and is a helpful add-on if you're new to semi-cured gels.
Step 6 (Optional): Apply a Gel Top Coat
For extra shine and protection, apply a clear UV gel top coat after curing your wraps. Follow the instructions for your specific top coat, including its recommended cure time. This helps protect your manicure from everyday wear and adds an even glossier finish.
How Long Will My Manicure Last?
With proper application, your semi-cured gel manicure can last up to 2 weeks.
Storing Unused Strips
Return any unused strips to their original dark packaging right away. Semi-cured gel can harden when exposed to light — especially UV light — so keeping strips sealed and stored in a dark place keeps them flexible for your next manicure.
Removal
To remove your wraps, gently lift one edge to break the seal. Apply nail polish remover or warm coconut oil, and use a rubber cuticle pusher to slowly work the product between the wrap and your natural nail.
Never peel or force the wraps off — this can damage your natural nails. Take your time and add more remover or oil as needed.
Age Recommendation
Semi-Cured Gel wraps are best suited for adults. We don't recommend them for children or younger teens, since gels require UV light to cure and can be trickier to remove.
For kids and teens, we suggest our Standard Collection or Kids Collection — they're fun, easy to apply, and don't require a lamp.
